In December 2o22 I asked the Golf community on X the following question:

What Wedges do you have in your bag?

Feedback from the tweet is presented here. Thank you to all who participated. The results are in the image below:

In descending order of popularity, the poll suggests 50, 60 and 54 degree wedges are the three most common wedge used by Amateur golfers. 50 is most popular with 18% of the total vote.

The most common Make of Wedge owned are Titleist Vokey, and by some distance, representing nearly 1/3 of all wedges owned (29%)!

  1. Really interesting breakdown of wedge preferences among amateur golfers. The data about loft selection was especially useful because a lot of players underestimate how important wedge gapping is for consistency around the greens.

    I also think practicing with a home golf simulator can help amateurs figure out which wedge setup works best for their distances and short-game control. Seeing actual carry numbers and spin rates makes it much easier to choose the right combination instead of guessing. Great insights and a very enjoyable read overall!
